You’ll need to evaluate your business processes — specifically your policy for who uploads documents to the Interfoio packet (dossier) — and set up the Candidate Requirements options of your cases (and possibly templates) accordingly.
The Candidate Requirements screen of a case allows administrators to decide what Interfolio will request of a candidate when they log in and view their case. Department administrators (DAs) add or delete requirements to this screen in order to tailor the Interfolio interface for the candidate. The link to this screen is accessed by clicking the “Edit Case” icon (the pencil, near the upper-right) on a case, as detailed in the Interfolio Help Center article on packet requirements, linked below.
Removing Requirements, Disallowing Additional Documents
In the scenario where a DA will upload documents on behalf of a particular candidate, the DA should remove any corresponding document requirements that appear on the Candidate Requirements screen of the case (e.g., if the DA will upload the CV, the CV requirement should be removed, if present).
!
Note: DAs should only delete individual document requirements, NOT requirement sections. Deleting a section removes that section entirely from the case, but all sections should remain, even if they're empty.
On the Candidate Requirements screen, requirements are organized into sections. These sections correspond to the sections of their packer/dossier that a candidate sees, works with and submits. A section becomes invisible to the candidate when an administrator removes all the requirements from it and unchecks the "Candidates can add additional documents to this section" checkbox that is available in the edit section dialog (not doing either will cause the section to remain visible). When a candidate logs in, they don't see sections which are invisible, however the administrator continues to see them. Because it simplifies the candidate's Interfolio interface, removing unnecessary requirements makes the candidate experience easier and less confusing, and is highly recommended.
!
Note: If a DA plans to always upload documents for all of their candidates, they may want to remove the individual document requirements from the Candidate Requirements section in their department’s template(s), as this will prevent the DA from repeatedly removing these requirements on a case-by-case basis. However, we suggest that everyone encourage their candidates to become comfortable with uploading their own documents.
Adding Requirements, Allowing Additional Documents
In the scenario where the candidate will be uploading their own documents, DAs should add the relevant requirements on the Candidate Requirements screen (if they're not already present), so the candidate can upload their documents to their packet/dossier. If the DA doesn't know exactly which documents will be uploaded (and so can't add specific individual requirements), they can check the "Candidates can add additional documents to this section" checkbox when editing the relevant section on this screen, which will allow the candidate to upload whatever documents they deem necessary.
