Opus allows appointees to be brought “back” into Opus by starting a case for one of the actions described below.

When an appointee is separated, or if their appointment end date has passed, they will no longer appear on several Opus pages (particularly the Roster) and users will no longer be able to access their Profile. In order to bring a missing person into Opus, a user should start a case for one of the following actions:

Appointment

This action can be used if the person should truly have a new appointment in the system (e.g. after a long absence from the university).

Renewal/Reappointment

This action can be used if the person should have had a continuous appointment in Opus, but they were not renewed on time. Opus will show you their most recent appointments. Select the appointment with the most recent end date, and provide an updated end date for the appointment.

  !

Note: If this person had cases in progress when their appointment ended, starting this case will allow those cases to reappear on the Cases page. Users can either delete or continue with those cases as applicable.

Recall Appointment

This action can be used to create a recall appointment for an emeritus appointee. This will create a new appointment with a Recall title code. The appointee should maintain both the emeritus appointment and the recall appointment if applicable.

Missing Appointments

If the person never had an appointment in Opus but should have, users should contact the Opus support team, who can add the appointment to the system.
