Opus allows users to enter salary data when starting a case, and to view this information in an appointee's profile. This information includes annual base salary as well as the on-scale and off-scale information. For appointees on the Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP), X and X' are also displayed.

"Salary" means the approved annual base salary for a given appointment. When starting a case or viewing a profile, this amount is broken down for each department, with the proportion assigned to each typically corresponding with the percent of full-time equivalent (FTE) that the appointment has in each department.

For appointees on HSCP, salary is often displayed as a combination of X and X'. In this scenario, X is the on-scale salary amount, while X' is the difference between that amount and the scale associated with the appointee's academic programming unit (APU).

Also note that in 2017 we updated all on-scale salary values in Opus to reflect new rates which came into effect on July 1, 2017 (this includes the HSCP tables and the scales for the Fielding School of Public Health).
