This setting is used in three ways: to identify cases for particular action types; to mark whether a case is on retention, hold or withdrawn; to identify the outcome for the case, and to assign custom statuses.

Two of the above statuses are automatically assigned by Opus to cases in Interfolio: Withdrawn and Completed. When a case is deleted in Opus, the case is automatically closed in Interfolio with status “Withdrawn.” When a case is completed in Opus, the case is automatically closed in Interfolio with status “Completed.”

This communication is one-way — Opus does not feature a place to display “status” information from Interfolio. When a case is started the user can manually set its status, selecting the relevant one from the list (Acceleration, 8 Year Limit, etc.).

When a case is put on hold, users should set its status to “On Hold.” Once the case resumes, users should change its status back to one of the relevant statuses.
