Opus and Interfolio send a range of automatic notifications via email. Additionally, Interfolio allows users to trigger (and often to append additional text to) notification emails.

Opus: To Department/School Administrators

Opus sends an email to the relevant DA/SA when:

  • An appointment is deleted

  • An appointment is edited

  • A case is completed

  • A completed case is updated

Interfolio: To Candidates

Interfolio sends an email to the relevant candidate when:

  • The candidate is notified about their case (the notifying administrator may include instructions/comments)

  • An administrator has shared files with the candidate (the notifying administrator may include instructions/comments)

Interfolio: To Committee Members

Interfolio sends an email to committee members when:

  • An administrator has shared files with committee member (the notifying administrator may include instructions/comments)

  • An administrator or committee manager emails the committee

  • A case is sent forward to a step requiring their review

  !

Note: When sending a case forward to the next step in Interfolio, the administrator has the option to "Send a message to the reviewers gaining access." Using this option will send a notification email only to committee members who do not have case access at the current step. If someone has access at both the current step and the new step, the email notification will not be sent.

Interfolio: To External Evaluators

Interfolio sends an email to an external evaluator when someone has requested that they upload an evaluation of the candidate (the requesting administrator may include comments and links to documents).

Interfolio Notifications Center

Users can find a record of emails that have been sent to others in the Interfolio Notifications Center. These notifications allow the user to view emails that were sent to others. The user will not receive these notifications in their own email.

For example, when a case is sent forward, the email that was sent to the committee at the new step is visible in the notifications center. Note that all “case sent forward” notifications are simply titled “New case available: Candidate Name” along with the date of the notification - you must click on the notification itself to read the subject and email text.

As another example, the email that is sent when a candidate is notified is also available in the notifications center.
