For appointees undergoing review in their 7th year, Opus users start cases for both a Promotion action and an 8 Year Limit action.

If the case for the Promotion action is approved, the case for the 8 Year Limit will also be marked as “Approved.” If the Promotion is disapproved, the outcome of the 8 Year Limit will be “Preliminary Assessment/Rebuttal.”

When the outcome of a case for an 8 Year Limit is “Preliminary Assessment,” users must start a new case for an 8 Year Limit: Preliminary Assessment/Rebuttal action. If the outcome of a case for an 8 Year Limit is “Approved,” the Promotion case can be re-created and approved. If the outcome is “Disapproved,” the decision not to promote stands and a new appointment end date may be entered if a terminal year appointment is necessary.

If the appointee wishes to resubmit the case for a final review, an administrator must start a new Opus case for an 8 Year Limit: Reconsideration action. If the case has an outcome of “Approved,” the Promotion case can be re-created and approved. If the outcome is “Disapproved,” the decision not to promote stands and a new appointment end date may be entered if a terminal year appointment is necessary.
