While this practice should generally be avoided, sometimes a case needs to move from APO back to the school, or from the school back to the department. The steps for sending a case backward in Interfolio are similar to the ones for sending it forward — you'll just click "send backward" instead of "send forward" on the "Send Case" button, as described in the how-to article linked near the bottom of this article. However, you'll first need to look at the information below to ensure that the case is ready to be sent backward.

Sending a Case Back to the School

If a case has already gone to CAP or the Vice Chancellor and it needs to be sent back to the Dean’s Office…

  1. Check the CAP Review and Vice Chancellor’s Review sections of the case. Download any files in these sections for safekeeping. You will need to re-upload these files to their proper locations when the case comes back to APO.
  2. Delete the CAP and Vice Chancellor files from the Interfolio packet now that you have copies on your computer.
  3. Check the RC Review Step. If there is a Review Committee listed it, please make a note of the members and then remove that committee. You’ll need add the Review Committee back again when the case comes back to APO.
  4. Click the "Send Case" button to send it backward by one step. Repeat this, if necessary, until the case is on the “Dean’s Office: Finalize & Submit to APO” step.
