UCLA can't issue a UID without a social security number, date of birth, etc., but Opus recognizes that users need to start cases for some candidates before they have all of this information. In scenarios where the UID can't be requested when a case starts, the recommendation is that the administrator be sure to request the UID in Opus before entering the appointee's information into UCPath. If the administrator is not the one who will eventually enter the appointee's data into UCPath, they should coordinate with the person who does enter it, so that the UID is requested through Opus beforehand.
Remembering to request the UID through Opus before (or, actually, on the same day) as entering the data into UCPath will prevent the accidental creation of duplicate records in Opus, as mentioned in the article linked below.
