The 4th Year Appraisal action often — but not always — coincides with a case for a Renewal, Reappointment, and/or a Merit action. As a result, when starting a new case for a 4th Year Appraisal action, users should also start cases for all other applicable actions.

The majority of schools at UCLA conduct a 4th Year Appraisal for Assistant appointments. For the School of Law, this review may be conducted in the third year, but will still start a case for a 4th Year Appraisal action.

Note: An approved Merit will not automatically cause the appointment to be renewed. Users must also start a renewal or reappointment case in order to extend an appointee’s end date.
