Yes, but if you're careful they're easy to avoid.

Opus allows very few users — just personnel in the APO office — to edit appointment data in academic appointees' profiles directly. This is because changes to appointments should be made in accord with university policy and through the formal process of starting a case. However, in scenarios where the data in Opus is incorrect, APO personnel will sometimes be required to edit appointment data directly by using tools available to them on the Profiles page. When doing so, there are a few things to watch out for.

Actions in Progress May Be 'Withdrawn'

If the department of an appointment is changed, or if its title code is changed in such a way as to force a department change, then the existing appointment is ended and a new appointment is created. When this happens, any actions in progress which are associated with the existing (ending) appointment are closed with a status of withdrawn. Please be careful when making changes to appointments on the Profiles page to avoid entering incorrect data.
