Emulation allows you to view and update your faculty's data and create CVs on their behalf.
To emulate a faculty member, you must have Faculty 180 access. Have your dean's office contact the opus help desk to request access for you.
If you have an administrator role in your unit, follow the instructions to emulate faculty in your unit. If you are supporting a particular faculty member, rather than an entire unit, follow the instructions for individual support accounts below.
Emulation for Unit Administrators
1. Go to "Faculty 180" in the sidebar, and click on "Administration." Then click "Administration" from the sub menu.
2. In the Tools section, click Emulate User.
3a. Optional: Filter Faculty by Employment Status.
“All Active” faculty (default) includes everyone who has an active appointment in Opus.
“Full Time” includes all active faculty in your unit at more than 50% time.
“Part Time” includes all active faculty in your unit at less than 50% time.
“Inactive” includes all faculty who were in your unit, but are no longer active in UC Path. Choosing this value will also display our fake faculty accounts.
“Staff” should never have anyone in it, we don’t use this classification.
“All Faculty” includes both active and inactive faculty.
3b. Optional: Filter to Faculty with Primary or Additional Appointments
“Primary Unit” (default) includes only those faculty who have Primary appointments in your unit.
“Secondary Unit” includes only those faculty who have Additional appointments in your unit.
“Both” includes both faculty with Primary appointments and faculty with Additional appointments in your unit.
3c. Click on the “Total” number next to your department or organization.
4. Click on the faculty member's name from the list or search for the name using the search box.
If you don't see the faculty member you're looking for, try looking at Inactive faculty.
5. Click "Okay" to begin emulation
Click the “Okay” button. You are now emulating the selected user.
After the page loads, it should show the name of the user that you are emulating at the top of the screen in a red box. You can now view and update information for the selected faculty member.
6. To exit the emulation, click Exit Emulation at the top-right corner of the screen.
Emulation for staff supporting individual faculty members
1. Go to "Faculty 180" in the sidebar, and click on "Account Access."
2. Click on the name of the faculty member you wish to emulate.
3. Click "Okay" to begin emulation
Click the “Okay” button. You are now emulating the selected user.
After the page loads, it should show the name of the user that you are emulating at the top of the screen in a red box. You can now view and update information for the selected faculty member.
4. To exit the emulation, click Exit Emulation at the top-right corner of the screen.
