Case Summary Flags and the Cover Page

The Case Summary page in Opus has four Action Flags that you can set to identify special types of cases: Retention, Retroactive, Chair’s Merit (i.e., the candidate is the department chair), Dean’s Merit (the candidate is the dean). Please use these flags when they apply to a case. We want this information to be displayed on the Cover Page as well.

If you upload the Opus Case Summary as your cover page in Interfolio, please do so after you've checked the relevant Action Flag in Opus.

If you instead create a cover page from our Data Summary template, please add any of this information to it so that reviewers and APO will see the Action Flag when reviewing the case material in Interfolio.

Reminders

Timely Submission of Spring Quarter Appointments

Please submit your Spring Quarter appointments to APO as soon as you can. We need Opus to reflect who has active appointments each quarter. We are, unfortunately, still receiving appointment and reappointment cases for Fall and Winter quarter lecturers.

How Appointments End in Opus

If someone separates from UCLA, the separation in UC PATH will end their Opus appointment. But if an appointment is ending and the appointee is not separating from UCLA (just taking another job here, for example), Opus will not end the appointment until the End Date, or Opus will leave the appointment active if it’s an indefinite appointment.

If an appointment is ending before its End Date (or it’s an indefinite appointment) and the person is not completely separating from UCLA, please contact the Help Desk with the appointment and end date information so we can update Opus. For example, if a professor is retiring to emeritus status, email Opus Help with the End Date of their professorial appointment (and create an Emeritus action in Opus).
